Field to Field: Building a Dream

Hi, my name is Clayton and I’m almost 10 years old. I love baseball more than anything. I play pitcher and second base for the Lake Stevens Riptide, and even though I’m not the biggest kid on the field, I always play with a lot of heart.

When my team told us we needed to do community service hours, I started thinking about how I could help people using baseball. Then I learned that kids in Kenya are starting to play baseball too, but they don’t always have gloves, uniforms, or money to travel to games. Some teams even share gloves and sleep near the field when they travel just so they can compete. I couldn’t imagine trying to play after traveling that far and sleeping like that.

That’s when I wanted to do something.

With help from my family and Ujenzi Foundation, I connected with Coach Nelson Kassim and the Kigoni Network teams in Kenya. They love baseball just as much as I do. They work hard, practice a lot, and really care about being good teammates. I realized that even though we live far away, we have a lot in common.

I started Field to Field because I believe kids can help other kids. I want players in Kenya to have gloves, uniforms, and chances to play in tournaments so they can feel proud and excited when they step onto the field. I also want kids here to learn how good it feels to help someone else.

Baseball has given me confidence, friends, and big dreams. I hope Field to Field helps spread that same joy across the world, one field at a time.

Thanks for being part of this journey with me.
